Autumn News from Mark Trumm Insurance
Temperatures are cooling off a bit and we’re seeing a few cloudy days here in Far Northern California. We’re also enjoying some local celebrations. During the first weekend in October we hit the trail up to Paradise, California for the annual Johnny Appleseed Days festival. We met many artisans and local businesses and enjoyed meeting hundreds of local citizens. There was food, fun, face painting, balloons for the kids and many opportunities for us to introduce our new agents. The Paradise Ridge Chamber even gave us an apple pie baking kit! We thouroughly enjoyed the experience and the weather was heaven sent!
We made some wonderful contacts for our Property and Casualty agents and we’re planning to work closely with a group of affordable home builders. There is so much rebuilding taking place and many hopes and dreams are materializing. The missing piece of that puzzle seems to be property insurance, but we have that covered. Our goal is to re-populate Paradise. And that is something we can do by providing some insurance for all those potential homeowners.
For now many of the fires have calmed down so we’re cautiously optimistic. Along with the hot weather slowly disappearing, we have some important Medicare enrollment dates on the horizon for October. Starting October 15th and continuing until the end of December is what Medicare calls Open Enrollment.
It’s also known as the annual election period or annual coordinated election period – refers to the annual period (October 15 through December 7) during which Medicare plan enrollees can reevaluate their coverage — whether it’s Original Medicare with supplemental drug coverage, or Medicare Advantage — and make changes if they want to do so.
What You Can Do During Open Enrollment in October
During Medicare open enrollment, a beneficiary can:
- Switch Medicare Advantage plans, switch from Medicare Advantage back to Original Medicare or vice versa,
- Join a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan,
- Switch from one Part D plan to another, or
- Drop Medicare Part D coverage entirely.
We’re also starting to advertise our fall Medicare presentations at restaurants and other locations throughout Paradise California, (our premier presentation in Paradise) . We'll be adding some events for Oroville so check our event Calendar HERE for details. You should be seeing new events listed on our calendar in the next 3 months. Just click the text on the dates to read the details. We always provide some wonderful desserts at these events so check out the event calendar and give us a call to let us know you’re planning to attend!
We always enjoy meeting people and teaching them the basics about Medicare. It’s important to us to keep in touch with the changes that occur each year. We’ll be calling our clients to review their coverages and to see if we can save them some money. A lot of popular plans are changing and you need to know about those changes. You’d be surprised how much money you can save. That precious plan that worked so well for you last year, may have undergone substantial changes.
You can still CALL us (530) 534-4600 for a review even if you already have your Medicare Plan. The review is absolutely FREE and there is no obligation to change or buy anything. That’s all the news for now. We hope you’re enjoying the entry into autumn!
